The only national event scoring for the EHC (European Hillclimb Championship), will bring together in Arriondas (Asturias) the best drivers in the discipline. A total of 77 registered participants will take part in the race, featuring prominent names from European, national, and regional motorsport, promising to thrill fans who travel to Arriondas to enjoy an authentic weekend of competition.
Heading the list of participants is the current champion, Italian Christian Merli, pursuing what would be his sixth victory in the Subida Internacional al Fito. Following him, standout competitors like Geoffrey Schatz, leader of the standings after winning the first race, alongside names such as Alexander Hin, Petr Trnka, Belliers, Bormolini, or Kevin Petit, whom Joseba Iraola, the Spanish team's top representative, will try to challenge.
International Diversity
In touring cars, the spectacular Porsches of Luca Gaetani and Werver, Gerard de la Casa's Fiesta, and Stefanovski's Ferrari, among others, will join Jose Antonio López-Fombona's majestic Audi RS5 DTM, returning to the home event. In total, 38 participants from 16 nationalities will make the hillclimb the event with the greatest international diversity among all motor races held on the peninsula.
Updates in the national championship
The national championship will kick off at the event, with some interesting vehicle changes among the regular drivers. For example, local driver Javi Villa will leave single-seaters to compete with a Ford Fiesta N5, while Benito Pérez Llende will debut a BRC B59. Other participants include Domingo Estrada, Mario Asenjo, Rubén Rodríguez with the Talex from Autohebdo Sport, and regular drivers like Antonio Noguera with the classic Porsche. A notably diverse lineup.
Regional Participation
As for regional drivers, although the race does not count towards the championship, many did not want to miss El Fito. The fast Asturian champions, Adrián Artidiello and Hugo Martínez Piñera, Ismael García Peón, Luis Pesquera, Pablo Fernández Acedo, Rua, or Rubén Bulnes with his spectacular Ax 1/2, along with other colleagues, will delight the numerous audience gathering on the southern face of the Sueve.
Everything is ready for Asturias and Arriondas to be a true motor celebration during the days of May 9, 10, 11, and 12.
